May 12, 2009 - The Destruction of Black Literature

I went to Wal-Mart the other day, walked to the area for books, and 99% of the books in the "African-American" section were love stories. That's disappointing because we have serious issues that need to be discussed. The fact that fictional novels about love and sex constituted the majority of the books about us, shows that Whites have invaded our literary world. They took a controlling interest in rap, and polluted it with garbage that promotes negativity because they consider that profitable. And now it appears they're repeating that formula with our books.

Rather than understanding the depth, intricacies, and expansive nature of the Black experience, White people involved in the literary world have tunnel vision. They seek to promote certain aspects of our culture that they deem profitable, regardless of the consequences of their behavior. If their actions result in them promoting negativity, they don’t care as long as they make money. That’s unfortunate because their actions result in them being complicit in the promotion of racism, thereby perpetuating America’s longest-lasting act of genocide.
